Project One Press release -
Project One Gallery, a lounge and art gallery in San Francisco, is pleased to announce an exciting musical collaboration with internationally acclaimed DJ Lee Coombs. P1 and Coombs are launching a new monthly event: “Familia,” featuring Coombs as P1’s new resident DJ along with rotating special guest DJs.
“I’m very excited about selecting music to play for Familia,” said Coombs, who is looking forward to using this opportunity to build “more eclectic sets,” which will include “all the newest tech funk, acid house, breaks, and electro, mixed with the coldest of classics.”
Coombs will be joined by special guest Überzone for the first “Familia” on May 19th. Überzone, also known as Q, also known as Timothy Wiles, is a California native known for his supremely danceable and unique electro beats. Wiles exploded onto the scene in the late 1990s, when he produced a number of hit singles, including “Botz,” “The Freaks,” and “2Kool4Skool” for City of Angels. Most recently, he mixed VCMG’s Ssss, a collaboration between Vince Clarke and Martin L. Gore of Depeche Mode, and remixed Erasure’s “A Whole Lotta Love Gone Riot” for their “Fill Us With Fire” single.
British-born Lee Coombs has been DJing since 1989, when he got his start at acid house parties in London and Cambridge. He went on to run several of his own labels and collaborate with some of the most respected artists and producers in his field, combining breaks, house, electro, techno, and acid to create groundbreaking mixes in his own signature style. Coombs is a talented and innovative fan-favorite around the world, whether he’s releasing music through his own Thrust Recordings or as part of the Lot49 team, or mesmerizing massive audiences filling dance floors from Australia to Burning Man.
Coombs is thrilled to begin making regular appearances at P1, calling the gallery/lounge “the perfect place for my new monthly residency.” Coombs elaborated, saying, “The venue is perfect, the sound system is on point, and the layout of the room keeps the vibe intimate but still feeling like we have space. I had been looking in SF for somewhere to do this for a while, and was blown away by how comfortably we tore the roof off the place last time I played. Congratulations to Steve and Brooke on building such a great venue! I really feel like we are about to build something very special at Project One. I can’t wait to see you all there!”
P1 is a 3200 square foot converted warehouse located in the design district of San Francisco, featuring a state of the art sound system and full bar. P1 hosts both up-and-coming and globally recognized DJs as well as showcasing the work of local and international contemporary artists in their gallery space.

I had the most wonderful surprise last night. When i got in dance music many moons ago i think the first really big record that gripped me was Orbital – Chime. Nothing sounded like it at the time and it was one of the most awesome and exciting records to ever be released i think. Years later i would make a great friend called Phil Hartnoll (one half of Orbital) and last night he sent me their new album with a message saying i am the first person he has sent it to. Now when i first heard Chime i never even thought i would ever get to meet anyone like Orbital or Phil. You see dreams do come true. Follow your heart and you will find them. Big love to Phil and Thank You x
BTW the new album is classic Orbital, go buy it!
